Tiny Video Content Tags

Video beats images online, so it was interesting to see this being used on POS and promoted in Campaign.


It looks brilliantly simple; attach the tag to your product, and when opened a teeny 2.4″ screen plays whatever content you need.

When it comes to more complex products, or for an engaging promotion this could be a great way to add interest and push to close the shopper.

The barrier of course is in people knowing it’s there!

Tesco PayQwik takes off Nationwide


It looks like it’s been working for them so they’re rolling it out. Payment on mobile is becoming second nature to many these days, so it’s no surprise that Tesco have done well with this especially with the £400 limit to keep those ‘big shops’ coming in.

Do I really want a separate app for separate shops? I’m not personally sure, and only time will tell when other customers jump on board.

This one’s all the way from the USA but definitely worth a look…

Last Halloween, one ‘mom’ decided to paint a pumpkin teal blue to say that her house was a safe house for kids with food allergies to trick or treat at. It went viral.

Building on this momentum, Safeway created an engaging piece of POS in Illinois. Situated at front of store, shoppers were stopped in their tracks by the familiar teal pumpkins, complemented by education about food allergies and navigation to the confectionary aisle.

Once in aisle, gluten free and peanut free confectionary brands had come together on educational aisle fins, reminding the shoppers of the importance of safe trick or treating. Considering that the rate of peanut allergies have quadrupled since 1997, we couldn’t like this more!

Vaseline Honeycomb

This FSDU display is bang on when it comes to stopping power and immediately tells the shopper what they are buying into. The cute honeycomb shape of the display and colour ways bring to life the ingredient used in this limited edition product . The giant branded tin on the top helps build association with a recognised and loved brand. There are also instructions for shoppers to reach inside should the front rows be empty – clever.

A super piece of POS which certainly got us all buzzing here!

Candy Kittens

Brain child of McVites heir and star of Made in Chelsea ( a UK reality TV show), Jamie Laing’s Candy Kitten POS product displays work well in multiple pop up store locations across the UK, as well as in the Selfridge’s confectionery aisle last Summer.

The cat shaped FSDU offers a physical manifestation of the brand’s cat shaped logo, smart and sweet, teamed with a set of variant call-out FSDUs that offer coloured navigation of flavours for shopper ease.

This effective disruption has seen a brand seemingly conceived as a joke on a reality TV show has become the number-one confectionery range sold in Selfridges, and is now selling more than 7,000 bags a week in Waitrose.

Discovered on Instagram this shows that you can find in store inspiration from the comfort of your own phone.

Pimms, Budweiser, Stella Artois and Lanson serve up some great POS

It’s Wimbledon season and a Tesco’s store in Wimbledon have gone all out with Stella Artois and Budweiser in-store activity, tennis ball champagne jackets from Lanson and heaps of Pimms bunting to be seen.

This level of creativity for shopper marketing is pretty impressive, but it’s made all the more so to be found in a small Tesco Express.
